Nopio provides a web-based platform for Sesame to help kindergarten children’s social and emotional learning

Nopio was asked to create a digitized version of a program for teachers working with Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 created by Sesame Workshop and Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.

The primary focus of the program is to support educators who teach social and emotional learning (SEL) subjects to young children. This unique educational content was created by educators, psychologists and other Sesame specialists to provide teachers with appropriate tools and instructions on how to impart this knowledge to their students.

Nopio was hired to develop a digitized, user-friendly application based on classic paper-oriented content that could be easily managed, updated, and expanded over time. The whole project also included the design and implementation of an online platform that would allow schools to purchase access to it.

The project was therefore divided into two distinct phases. The first addressed issues around content management and creating direct access for teachers to record their progress through the use of pre-defined weekly checklists. The business aspects were dealt with in the second phase. Nopio has implemented a paid license system as well as access management at the district and school level.

The first phase started with an in-depth analysis of the content provided. Nopio worked closely with Sesame to extrapolate content management data and expectations. Based on the information collected, the developer team created a fully customized branded web application that was easy to use, tailored to teachers’ needs and appealing to young children who would see parts of the application during lessons.

In the second phase, exclusive license management functionality was added alongside an onboarding workflow for district and school administration faculties, making it easier to manage teacher permissions.
