Product Manager: Omni Channel Web Platform at Capitec


Goal statement

  • Support the product manager in producing the best product; optimize the product by leading the construction and development of the product throughout its lifecycle, partnering and collaborating with the software development manager and teams around the sequence / priority in which to build and develop the product .

Education (minimum)

  • National Grade 12 Certificate / Professional
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in information technology – programming or information technology – computer science

Education (ideal or preferred)

  • A relevant graduate degree in Information Technology – Programming or Information Technology – Computer Science

Knowledge and experience


  • At least 8 years of management experience; senior level product development or product manager / owner
  • More than 5 years of experience in the management, development and delivery of a product before
  • Work at the tactical and operational levels and contribute to product strategy and business planning
  • Integrate commercial and technical product segments to achieve goals, delivery and targets
  • Career experience to be included in one or more technical roles
  • Communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders from multiple business units
  • Writing product lifecycle documents including business plans, product roadmap, business cases, and functional requirements and specifications
  • Framing / carrying out usability studies and / or customer research
  • Use data and metrics to test theories, confirm hypotheses, and measure success
  • Customer development and product validation thanks to customer feedback
  • Align initiatives and / or operational projects with the strategies and objectives of the company
  • Achieve goals and objectives through multi-functional teams (hybrid, remote)
  • Business development in a banking / financial landscape
  • Agile product ownership and methodology


  • Sufficient financial sense for budget management
  • Translation of product strategies into tactical and operational planning
  • Systemic thinking; able to see the big picture, assess, recommend logical and sound decisions and influence others to achieve goals
  • Product expertise and relevant process know-how
  • Domain specific knowledge, business acumen, understanding of product technology, technical dependencies

  • Experience in product development in the product area at the management level
